Halloween Time at Disneyland Resort

Halloween Time has made it's way to So Cal, and it's going on now through October 31st at Disneyland Resort. WOOT! WOOT!

My family and I just went to the Disneyland Resort this past weekend & had a pumpkin, er,  I mean ball. There are SO many festive sights, sounds and smells for the little ones and not so little ones. They really did the job of getting us in the Halloween mood.

Also we will be attending MICKEY'S HALLOWEEN PARTY soon, so I will give you the low down on that too!

  Halloween Time Highlights

  • Main Street, U.S.A. in Disneyland is transformed for the PUMPKIN FESTIVAL. More than 300 pumpkins will be on display in shop windows and none of them are the same!

  • Meeting Disney characters will be easier than ever as Disney villains gather to plot Halloween mischief at “it’s a small world” Mall in Disneyland, while other characters in spooky attire greet guests in Town Square, Main Street, U.S.A.

  • Special Halloween treats will be available in Disneyland, including menu items such as Zero’s Ghostly Ghoulash, served in a dog dish in honor of Zero.

  • Halloween Time gifts are offered in Disneyland Resort shops. Gifts include jack- o-lantern mouse ears and collectable pins depicting Mickey Mouse and his friends in Halloween costumes.

  • Jack Skellington also returns to take over the Haunted Mansion and bring back Haunted Mansion Holiday to New Orleans Square in Disneyland, inspired by “Tim Burton’s Nightmare Before Christmas.”
  • The "Haunted" version of Space Mountain aka Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy. Ghosts appear out of the starry darkness and swirling galaxies of Space Mountain, reaching out as if to grab guests as they speed through space. The exhilarating drops and curves of the journey are punctuated by piercing screams, creepy sound effects and haunting music.
  • For spine-tingling fun, drop in at The Twilight Zone™ Tower of Terror at Disney California Adventure park, where a “supernatural” event happened on Halloween evening, 1939, forever haunting the building.

And don't forget to go VOTE for your favorite Disney Villian!
(as of today: MALEFICENT is in the lead)

Material Girl at Glamorama 2010

Last night, one of my SISTERS and I went to GLAMORAMA at The Orpheum Theater in Downtown Los Angeles. (I know, Tres Chic of us) It was a fundraiser for Aids Project Los Angeles and Project Angel Food. The event was put on by Macy's. Here was my FAVORITE part of the whole night.

Madonna and Lourdes (her daughter) have a clothing line out called MATERIAL GIRL.
Their line was one of the featured collections last night. Here is the performance. If you want to see more videos from the evening, go to my YouTube Page.

Dinosaurs Invade the Staples Center

Last week I had the amazing opportunity to see the final engagement of Walking With Dinosaurs the Arena Spectacular at The Staples Center. And let me say that it was SPECTACULAR! We got to see 10 different species with the ultimate dinosaur, Tyrannosaurus Rex as the show's finale.

The show was based off of the BBC Television Series. There was a narrator that took us through the different time periods of the Dinosaurs. And told us about how and why the dinosaurs evolved into different species for survival. It was really educational, and there was great music and special effects throughout the entire show.

It is mind boggling to think that these beasts were real. That they actually lived on our planet for 200 million years. When you see them up close, right in front of your face, you have a whole other appreciation for their size and majesty. In Walking With Dinosaurs They walked, they fought, they ate, they roared, and at times even showed humor. (The Baby T-Rex stole the show and got the most applause at the end.)

It was a great show, and I am so thankful to David for allowing me to attend.

Here are just some of the STARS of the evening: BTW their performances were incredible!

Beloved Killer Whale Dies at SeaWorld San Diego

The Shamu Show has resumed today in SeaWorld San Diego, while devastated trainers and mourning fans do their best to put on a happy face. Yesterday, Tuesday September 7, 2010 the unimaginable happened in the SoCal theme park. Sumar, star of the SHAMU Shows, passed away very suddenly & mysteriously.

Sumar who was 12 years old, was born in captivity at SeaWorld Orlando in 1998. He was then transported to SeaWorld Ohio, for a short time. In 1999, he was transferred to his final home in SeaWorld San Diego.
He was about 15 feet long and over 5,000 pounds. They say that orcas in captivity can live up to 25 years, up to 50 in the wild, making this young whales death even more of a shock.

I'm a big fan of SeaWorld, an even bigger fan of killer whales. I feel connected to them in ways that even I can't explain. I am deeply saddened by the loss of such an amazing creature. To all of us who care so much about these animals, this is a very sad time. Thank you SeaWorld for giving us an opportunity to know Sumar. He will be missed.

Here are some photos that I took, when I was there a few months ago. Little did I know it would be the last time I would see Sumar. Six killer whales now remain at the park.
